Silverdrum: A Year in Review
2017 was a year of AdTech and AI, blockchain and brands. As specialists across the digital media landscape, sourcing mid to senior level hires across sales and marketing disciplines, we’ve been at the forefront of key hiring trends. Here is a brief overview of the developments that we have seen this year across three key client areas.
Media Owners are further evolving their digital market offerings. By developing new digital products, they continue to create demand for commercial and sales-side team members, to take those products to market.
AdTech-led businesses have been expanding their teams within the UK market across a variety of senior positions.
Media Agencies have bolstered their senior leadership and client teams across all aspects of digital.
The first 6 months of 2017 saw significant growth across media owners, as many of our clients focussed on expanding their digital teams, which included several senior digital commercial and strategy hires. This hiring wave also extended to AdTech-led businesses, who made a number of senior hires across sales, account management and client services.
Latterly, across the past 6 months, we have seen a slight shift, with significantly more opportunities agency-side at a senior level. This has included several senior positions across partnerships, data and client leadership, with salaries in excess of £100,000.
From a candidate perspective, we have noticed three trends with regards to client demand.
Sales: AdTech and Media Owners are seeking well-connected candidates, from both agency and brand backgrounds, with a combination of Media and Tech/SaaS sales experience.
Performance Marketers: Our agency clients are always looking for strong performance-led digital specialists, especially those with biddable and programmatic experience. Digital performance all-rounders are in high demand across the entire media industry.
Data: Both Media Agency and AdTech clients are looking for senior data specialists with client-facing skills. Those who have the ability to integrate data as part of the overall media mix are especially highly sought-after.
